Mithrandir

A scan of a photo of an example of my conventional illustration type art. I made the original circa 1985 for my second brother, who introduced me to Lord of the Rings when I was a wee thing of 11 back in 1964, and started what for me would be a lifelong love of Tolkien's works, as well as my powerful fondness for the character of Gandalf. The original piece of art was much larger, about 18"x24" and included a calligraphy inscription of the first verse of "Frodo's Lament for Gandalf" below the art. The art was done on smooth heavy bristol board using ink, colored pencil, and small touches of acrylic. As far as I know, my brother still owns the original.
